Outside of the AFC West, the AFC North is the best quarterback division in football. There’s Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson and lastly Mitchell Trubisky. Obviously, Trubisky isn’t on the same level as the other three, but he can still be exactly what the Pittsburgh Steelers need.

WynnBET has released its odds for 2022 divisional winners and the Steelers have the worst odds to win the AFC North at +850. The Browns are +165, the Bengals are +210 and the Ravens are +220.

With that big of a gap between the top three and the Steelers, I see value in taking a chance on the Steelers to win the AFC North.

The Steelers played with a washed up version of Ben Roethlisberger for the last two years and ended with a 20-12-1 record. Mike Tomlin, who’s never had a losing season, now gets a quarterback with a little bit of potential. Trubisky has a similar stat profile to Roethlisberger’s last two seasons in terms of yards per attempt and interceptions.

On top of that, he’s more mobile and allows the Steelers to have more freedom offensively.

Pittsburgh was also able to survive off of its defense for the last two years. Assuming the Steelers’ defense plays how it has in recent history, Trubisky will be a similar situation as the 2018 Bears (who went 12-4) – just with a more competent head coach.

The AFC North is always one of the most competitive divisions in the league, and it would be wrong to count out the Steelers right now. Even with a Super Bowl team in the division last season, the difference between first and last was two games. There is a lot of variance from year-to-year in that division that allows for improbable things to happen.

Cincinnati went from worst-to-first with one of the worst offensive lines in the league. Pittsburgh – who was 0.5 games behind the Bengals – just got an upgrade at quarterback, still has an above average defense and has the best coach in the division.

The vision is there and there is a shot to be taken.
