Pittsburgh and Syracuse are set to face-off in each team's final regular season matchup of the college football season.

The Panthers have already locked up a berth in the ACC Championship game with a 6-1 conference record. With every other team being at least two games behind them, a loss won't effect their berth in the ACC title game. Pittsburgh will play in its first conference championship game since 2018 when they faced the Clemson Tigers and lost 42-10.

Syracuse has no chance at playing in the championship game, but it will need to beat Pittsburgh to earn a berth in a bowl game. At 5-6, the Orange are one win short of an automatic bid.

Pittsburgh vs. Syracuse Prediction and Pick

There will be many voices this week telling you to bet on Syracuse because Pitt has "nothing to play for" and Syracuse is in a "must-win situation." Those tropes mean next to nothing when it comes to betting on football.

Kenny Pickett has established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation this season, and the Panthers rank 16th in yards per pass attempt (8.7) this season because of him. Now he gets to face a weak and depleted Syracuse defense that ranks 81st in opponent yards per pass attempt (7.6). The Orange has been especially bad in this area as of late, allowing an averaging of nine yards per pass attempt through its last three games.

Meanwhile, the Syracuse offense ranks 91st in offensive yards per play. This game should result in a Pitt blowout. Don't let the tropes and public narrative sway your decision.

Pick: Pittsburgh -13
