Presidents Cup Exact Score Predictions (How Much Will Team USA Win By?)

The Presidents Cup is a biannual golf tournament between Team USA, and Team International, which is made up of golfers from any non-European country.

The Americans have historically dominated this event, going 11-1-1 in the first 13 years of the event. As a Canadian, it pains me to say that Team USA will likely win this event by a landslide once again, but I did make the case for Team International in this week's episode of Green on the Greens.

But I'm going to put my International Team bias aside for this article, because in all likelihood, Team USA will win.

So the only question that remains, is by how much? FanDuel Sportsbook has prop bets available where you can bet on the exact result at the end of each round, as well as the total final result, so I'm going to make my call and predict the exact scores throughout the entire tournament.

Presidents Cup Exact Result Prediction

Presidents Cup Round 1 Result Prediction: USA 4.5 - International 0.5 (+1200)

The format for Thursday's five matches is foursomes, which is basically just alternate shot. Before the start of the round, each pairing will decide which golfer will tee-off on even holes, and which golfer will tee-off on odd numbered holes. After the tee-shot on each hole, the two golfers will alternate shots until the ball is in the hole.

This format favors the much deeper Team USA squad, and the history shows this to be true. Since 2007, Team USA has 30 more points than Team International in the foursome format. They'll get off to a hot start on Thursday.

Presidents Cup Round 2 Result Prediction: USA 6.5 - International 3.5 (+550)

I think the International Team will have a bit of a bounce back performance on Friday, winning 3-2 which would make the total score for the tournament still in favor of USA at 6.5-3.5.

As shown by the tweet above, International Team has performed much better in Four-ball, which is a format where every golfer plays their own ball, and the best score for each hole is the one that's counted.

Presidents Cup Round 3 Result Prediction: USA 12 - International 6 (+900)

Saturday will feature two rounds. The morning will be the second round of foursomes, and the afternoon will feature a second round of four-balls. Team USA is going to separate themselves on this day, and I have them going 5.5-2.5 on Saturday's eight matches.

They're just too talented and too skilled for International to keep pace on Saturday.

Presidents Cup Final Result Prediction: USA 18 - International 12

The final round is always the most fun, as it's 12 matches of 1-on-1 match play. With the final score being 18-12, that means that I think Sunday's matches will result in a 6-6 tie. That might seem tough for International to accomplish, but we've seen in tournaments before where USA has it mostly locked up at the end of the day Saturday, they celebrate Saturday night which allows International to be competitive on Sunday.

That's likely why International has the advantage in 1-on-1 matches dating back to 2007. Regardless, it will be a rout at the end of the day, with USA winning by six points.
