Primetime NFL Predictions From 'Wedding Crashers' to 'The Breakfast Club' for Week 2
If this is your first week joining us in the movie GIF NFL prediction world, welcome and I'm sorry. It's childish in here so I hope you retain your braincells over the next few moments as we use GIFs from my favorite movies to help make predictions/tell the story of what to expect in Week 2 of the NFL.
Last week I went 2-3 picking the top games, but this week our focus is strictly on the primetime matchups, where I believe I have a good beat on what to expect. We'll see if that comes to fruition, but even if it doesn't, at least we had a few laughs remembering classic lines from these movies.
All odds from WynnBET.
Giants at Washington (-3) Prediction
Daniel Jones is 4-0 against Washington in his career and 4-19 against everyone else. Washington is also starting their backup quarterback in this one and was held to only 16 points in their season opener. That reason to be optimistic if you're a Giants fan, right?
Nah. Washington's pass rush was slowed down against an improved Chargers offensive line, but against the Giants' swish cheese, revolving door line, I expect Jones to look like this at the end of the game.
The Giants defense was gashed against the run in their season-opening loss to the Broncos and that's where Washington's strength lies. I expect Washington to come away with the win here and cover the spread.
Chiefs (-3.5) at Ravens Prediction
Whenever the home team is getting over 3 points in the NFL, it usually spells trap for people who bet on the road team.
In this situation, I don't think that's the case.
Patrick Mahomes has dominated the Ravens in three starts, going 3-0 with 9 touchdowns against 1 interception and averaging 378.6 passing yards per game. In his career in September, Mahomes is 11-0 with 35 touchdowns against 0 interceptions.
You might think Mahomes is due for a stinker and roll with the Ravens, who lost a game they should have won in Las Vegas on Monday. But on a short week for Baltimore dealing with a billion injuries and coming off an embarrassing second-half performance, I don't see that happening. Not with the way their defense made Derek Carr look like, well, Mahomes last week.
Roll with KC.
Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (-11) Prediction
I took Green Bay as my survivor pool pick this week so clearly I think they'll win this game. Aaron Rodgers is, after all, 10-2 against the Lions at home, 17-5 against them in his career and has thrown 46 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions against them overall.
What, you thought you would get some plot twist here?
Sorry to disappoint those Lions fans out there hopeful after their fourth-quarter comeback against the 49ers, but that should have been a blowout and so will this. I don't love giving up 11 points, but at home against a team struggling with injuries and a lack of talent, the Packers should win by three scores.
So there it is. Washington crashes the Giants wedding, Mahomes beats Lamar Jackson in the quarterback star wars and, I don't know, the Packers avoid the Monday morning breakfast club reserved for losing teams...a stretch at the end, but if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?
Me, is the answer.
