The Los Angeles Rams’ offense was dealt a major blow this week when it was reported that running back Cam Akers tore his Achilles while preparing for training camp.

Losing Akers likely means that Darrell Henderson will take over the duties as Los Angeles’ lead back, but that hasn’t hurt the Rams’ chances of making noise in the NFC this season.

The Rams still have the third-best odds to win the Super Bowl on WynnBET at +1200, and they didn’t see any movement in their odds to win the NFC West either. Los Angeles remains a +180 co-favorite with the San Francisco 49ers in the division.

Matthew Stafford’s success will be the main key for the Rams’ offense in 2021, and WynnBET is predicting that he will have a major season under Sean McVay. Los Angeles has -190 odds to make the postseason, and while the loss of Akers hurts their offensive ceiling, oddsmakers still think the team will succeed.

The Rams selected Akers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he had a slow start in his rookie campaign. However, he finished the season strong and put up 221 yards on 46 carries in his two playoff games.

Akers finished the regular season as the Rams’ leading rusher, edging Henderson by one yard, but the Rams had big plans for Akers as both a runner and a pass catcher in 2021.

Now that Akers is out for the season, Henderson has flown up the odds list to lead the league in rushing touchdowns on WynnBET. Henderson now has +4000 odds to lead the NFL, but he does not have odds to lead the league in rushing yards on WynnBET.

Prior to his injury, Akers had +2000 odds to be the NFL's leading rusher in 2021.
