The Los Angeles Rams haven’t looked as dominant as some would have expected to open the 2022 season, but they still are 2-1 heading into a divisional matchup on Monday Night Football with the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers put up an absolute clunker in primetime in Week 3, scoring just 10 points in an 11-10 loss to the Denver Broncos. With Jimmy Garoppolo leading the way for San Francisco the rest of the season, the offense is going to look a lot more deliberate than it did under Trey Lance.

Can Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp carry the Rams offense to another win? Or will the 49ers elite defense help them get back to .500?

Here are the latest odds for this NFC West showdown:

This line has moved slightly in favor of the Rams, as it did get to 2.5 during the week but is now back to San Francisco -1.5. The total has gone from 44 to 42.5.

Rams vs. 49ers Best Bet and Prediction

There is one glaring trend that needs to be addressed before you bet on this game.

Since Kyle Shanahan took over as the 49ers’ head coach in 2017, the team has been downright awful at covering the spread as a favorite.

The 49ers are just 17-26-1 as favorites under Shanahan and 9-15-1 ATS when favored at home.

I know that the Rams haven’t looked great the first three weeks, but neither has San Francisco, losing to the Chicago Bears and then struggling to move the ball against Denver in Week 3.

I trust Stafford a whole lot more than Garoppolo, and Sean McVay is 10-4 against the spread as a road underdog in his coaching career.

Until Garoppolo gives us a reason to trust him as the 49ers starter again, I’m fading this San Francisco team.
