I'm at the point where unless Shohei Ohtani is pitching for Los Angeles, I want to fade the Angels at every opportunity.

They find themselves as slight home favorites today with Reid Detmers pitching. I'll admit I'm impressed by Detmers, who has a 1.06 ERA this month while allowing only 10 hits in 17 innings. That being said, the Angels are only 1-8 in his last nine starts.

Dane Dunning is the ultimate fade starter so far this season, with Texas losing 11 consecutive games behind him. But he's gone three straight road outings without surrendering more than three runs and Los Angeles ranks dead-last in OPS against right-handed pitchers this month.

Can Dunning finally get a win or will Los Angeles make me eat my words?

Rangers vs Angels Prediction and Pick

Want to know how bad the Angels are? Texas has lost 22 of Dane Dunning's last 24 road starts, and I still feel comfortable backing the Rangers today.

Los Angeles' lineup is just that bad. With the worst OPS against righties in July and rumors swirling that Shohei Ohtani could be traded, the vibes are horrible in the organization. At the very least, I don't feel comfortable backing the Angels as favorites with a starter they've lost four straight at home behind.

Reid Detmers oozes with potential, don't get me wrong, but Texas hits well against southpaws and Detmers' 4.63 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) implies he's been lucky to amass a 3.84 ERA to this point.

The Rangers are good as road underdogs, winning six of 11, while Los Angeles is just 2-4 in its last six as a favorite.

Perhaps the defense commits too many blunders, maybe the bullpen collapses, or the lineup could even get shut out. However it happens, the Angels will find a way to blow this game tonight and give Dunning his first road win of the year.

Pick: Rangers (+103)
