Rangers vs Mets Prediction and Odds for Friday, July 1 (Low Quality Pitching to Yield High Number of Runs)
By Matt De Saro
The New York Mets are quickly losing ground in the NL East after being up more than 10 games at one point over Atlanta. The Mets are on a three-game losing streak, and host the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of a three-game series today. While the Mets are a much better team on paper. They are 4-6 in their last 10 games and need to get back on track to hold onto their division lead.
Can the Rangers steal a game at Citi Field from the struggling Mets or will New York get back in the groove against Texas?
Here are the odds for this game from consensus sportsbooks.

Rangers vs. Mets Prediction and Pick
The Rangers’ starter today, Glenn Otto, is a good example of a guy who started the season strong and proceeded to fall off a cliff. Otto posted a 2.89 ERA in April, a 4.85 ERA in May, and a 10.29 so far in June. What makes that ERA even more miserable is he got pounded by the Nationals and Mariners for eight runs in seven innings. I could understand if the Yankees and Dodgers beat him up. But the Nats and M’s? Not good. As if you needed a reason to fade the Rangers against one of the best teams in the National League anyway.
Chris Bassitt will make the start today for the Amazins with a 6-5 record and a shaky 4.01 ERA. Bassitt also started the year on a tear, but has been pretty bad this month. In five starts in June, Bassitt has a 4.70 ERA and has given up three or more runs in four of his last five starts.
I think that between these two struggling pitchers, we could be in for a show at the plate today. The total for this game is on the low-end at eight and very beatable.
Pick: OVER 8 (-120)
