Rangers vs. Red Wings Prediction and Odds (Detroit Crashing and Burning After Historic Blowout)
By Matt De Saro
The New York Rangers head to Detroit on the second half of a back-to-back to take on the Red Wings tonight at the Little Caesars Arena. The Rangers are riding a three-game winning streak and currently sit in second in the Metropolitan Division.
The Red Wings, on the other hand, are playing awful hockey right now. They have lost three in a row and nine of their last 12 straight up. The icing on top of the cake was a stunning 11-2 loss on Sunday night to the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s hard to imagine them turning things around at this point as their season is already over.
Here are the odds for tonight’s matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

- Rangers -140
- Red Wings +120
Puck line:
- Rangers -1.5 (+155)
- Red Wings +1.5 (-190)
Total:

Rangers vs. Red Wings Prediction and Pick
The Red Wings will be chomping at the bit to redeem themselves after getting flat-out embarrassed on Sunday. But this isn’t going to be the game that happens. The Rangers are not only one of the better teams in the league, they are also starting to ramp up their play as the season winds down. Detroit may have come away with a win the last time these two met, but I don’t see lightning striking twice for them.
The biggest issue for Detroit continues to be their incredibly inefficient defense. The Red Wings are the third-worst team in the NHL in terms of goals-against average and second in total goals. Things continue to go downhill and Detroit has surrendered 18 goals in their last three games. Starting goalie, Alex Nedeljkovic, has been one of the biggest offenders and has a .901 save percentage and a 3.26 GAA.
The Red Wings do have a strong offense but the Rangers are too well-rounded to lose twice in a row to this team. Ill take my chances with them on the road to continue their winning streak.
Pick: Rangers -140 to win
