Rangers vs. Tigers Prediction and Pick for Sunday, June 19 (Fade Both Pitchers this Afternoon in Detroit)
By Matt De Saro
The Detroit Tigers are proving to me that they deserve a spot on the list of worst teams in the MLB. They are jockeying with the Kansas City Royals for last place in the NL Central and have been playing their worst baseball all year over the last couple of weeks.
Detroit's current series against the Texas Rangers hasn’t gone well either after losing the first two games by a combined score of 10-1. In the lead-up to this series, the Tigers lost four straight and appear to be in for a long summer.
Here are the odds for this game from consensus sportsbooks..
Rangers vs. Tigers Odds, Run Line, and Total
Run Line
- Rangers: -1.5 (+125)
- Tigers: +1.5 (-145)
Moneyline:
- Rangers: -135
- Tigers: +115
Total:
- Total 8 (Over -105/Under -115)
Rangers vs. Tigers Prediction and Pick
The Tigers need a lot of help to get their season back on track. Trouble is, they don’t have the roster or depth to even begin to fight back. Drew Hutchinson is a good example of this as the Tigers’ reliever is 0-4 with a 4.58 ER and 1.58 WHIP on the season.
This will be his second start after spinning a decent game against the White Sox on Tuesday. While the current Rangers have a very bad .125 batting average against Hutchinson, he hasn’t pitched against them as a member of the Tigers yet. Hutchinson isn’t stretched out quite yet and hasn’t pitched more than four innings in a game since August of 2021.
Meanwhile, the Rangers’ starter Dane Dunning is dealing with his own issues. Dunning enters this game with a 1-4 record, 4.04 ERA, and 1.30 WHIP in 71 ⅓ innings. And, for as bad as the Tigers have been for a while, Dunning has pretty bad career starts against them with a .271 batting average and .938 OPS.
I can’t say I feel good about either one of these back-end starters and trust in these lineups to put in a lot of work today.
Pick: OVER 8 (-105)
