Raptors Bettors Suffer Disastrous Bad Beat in Game 3 Playoff Loss to 76ers
By Ben Heisler
Joel Embiid avenged one of the most difficult losses of his career in the same building that sent his Philadelphia 76ers packing in 2019.
Back in the second round of the playoffs, Embiid and the Sixers faced Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors in a winner-take-all Game 7 to move onto the Eastern Conference finals. With just over three seconds left to go, Leonard made the impossible shot to move on and eventually lead Toronto to their first NBA championship.
On Wednesday night, Embiid finally got his revenge; draining a fadeaway three-pointer to give the Sixers a 104-101 lead with 0.7 seconds to go.
The MVP candidate got his team a massive win to go up 3-0 in the series, but he also snatched the souls of bettors holding Raptors +2 tickets in the process.
Toronto was in control for most of the game; taking a 56-46 lead into halftime and building up as much as a 17-point lead along the way. However, even as Philadelphia came back and forced the game into overtime, the Raptors had never been down by more than two points throughout the entirety of the game. That is until Embiid hit the final shot to win Game 3.
Oddsmakers at WynnBET Sportsbook have all but declared the series over, listing Philadelphia as -20000 favorites to win the series. Should any bettors want to throw a dart on Toronto to overcome a 3-0 deficit in the first round, they can get the Raptors at +2500 to win four straight games.
With key injuries to two stars on the two pre-playoff favorites in Khris Middleton and Devin Booker, WynnBET has moved the Sixers up to sixth in the playoffs at +900 to win the title. Philly is also up to fourth in the East at +400 to advance to the Finals.
