Ravens' Passing Offense Expected to Struggle Again in 2021

The Baltimore Ravens are a run-first offense to their core. With Lamar Jackson behind center, Baltimore has utilized the run game in ways that no other team is able to. Last year, the Ravens ran for 192.1 yards per game, nearly 30 yards more than the Derrick Henry-led Tennessee Titans.

While being one of the more dominant teams in the league on the ground, their passing game has fallen behind tremendously. The Ravens were dead-last in passing yards last season, only passing for 179.1 yards per game. Even with more upgrades to the receiving game in 2021, it doesn’t look like much will change.

WynnBET has released its odds for the NFL’s receiving yards leader and Marquise Brown is the only Ravens receiver on the list. To make matters worse, he was tied for the worst odds at +50000.

Jackson is also near the bottom of the list when it comes to the passing leader odds, coming in near the bottom at +15000.

Brown led the Ravens with 769 receiving yards last season, which is an improvement on his rookie season, but nowhere close to leading the league. Baltimore signed Sammy Watkins and drafted Rashod Bateman to try and help Jackson, but will need much more from Brown to even merit consideration.

Baltimore has said it wants to experiment with Jackson under center more and try a more traditional passing attack. The Ravens have also discussed using J.K. Dobbins as a weapon in the passing game more, but he would be used out of the backfield.

Whichever way Baltimore decides to try and expand its passing game, Vegas doesn’t seem to have much faith in what the Ravens can do.
