The Baltimore Ravens have been synonymous with having a good defense for the better part of the past two decades.

Ever since a prime Ray Lewis led them to a Super Bowl win in the 2000-2001 NFL season while having one of the most dominant defenses in NFL history, Baltimore has consistently had a top defensive unit year in and year out.

Oddsmakers expect that to be the case again in 2021. WynnBET has released odds on which team will allow the fewest points this season, and the Ravens are set as the betting favorites at +750.

Odds to Concede Fewest Points in 2021 NFL Regular Season

Here are the top 10 teams on the odds list via WynnBET to allow the fewest points this upcoming regular season.

  • Baltimore Ravens +750
  • Washington Football Team +1100
  • San Francisco 49ers +1200
  • Cleveland Browns +1400
  • Denver Broncos +1400
  • Los Angeles Rams +1400
  • Los Angeles Chargers +1700
  • New England Patriots +1700
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers +1700
  • Green Bay Packers +1750

The Ravens are the deserving favorite

The Ravens had the best scoring defense in the NFL last season, allowing an average of 18.5 points per game. It’s always difficult to repeat in this area, but they are primed to once again have one of the best defenses in the NFL.

They lost pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue to free agency, but snagged Justin Houston from the Indianapolis Colts, who will be a more than serviceable replacement.

Outside of the switch at defensive end, the Ravens defense form last year will be largely intact for the upcoming season. Expect them to once again be a force to be reckoned with.

Which defense can challenge the Ravens?

Two teams spring to mind when I think of which defensive unit can be atop the scoring list this season. The Los Angeles Rams and the Washington Football Team.

The Rams had the second-best scoring defense in 2020, allowing 19.3 points per game. Spearhead by two of the best defensive players in football, Aaron Donald at defensive tackle and Jalen Ramsey at cornerback, the Rams should have a fierce unit in 2021 and are a great bet at +1400.

Chase Young of the Washington Football Team won defensive rookie of the year last year, and their defense basically dragged a stagnant offense to an NFC East division title in 2020. They were fantastic against the pass, but they were an average team at stopping the run, ranking 11th in opponent yards per carry. If they can boost their run-stopping capabilities, they have a real chance to be the top defense this season.
