The Baltimore Ravens are looking for to bounce back this season with a much healthier roster after finishing 8-9 amid a plethora of injuries in 2021. Meanwhile, the New York Jets are hoping for huge returns on a stellar draft class early in the year.

Lamar Jackson is looking for a big payday and Zach Wilson needs to take the next step for New York, so there is a ton of intrigue into Week 1 at the Meadowlands. Not to mention we could get a Joe Flacco revenge game.

  • New York went 3-5 ATS as a home underdog in 2021

  • Jets are 0-6 ATS in their last six games played in September.

Ravens vs. Jets Prediction and Pick

These two teams had some of the worst injury luck last season and obviously both suffered from it. The Ravens lost Lamar Jackson for stretches as well as just about every running back and defensive back on the team. Now, they are returning a lot of important pieces like J.K. Dobbins, Marcus Peters and obviously Jackson.

Even with those injuries, they still went 8-9 last season and had a shot at the playoffs if Tyler Huntley could have beaten the Steelers late in the year. The infrastructure in Baltimore is very solid and I actually like the fact that Don Martindale was replaced by Mike Macdonald. The defense will blitz less, but still generate pressure and will help out their secondary as they settle back in after an abysmal 2021.

Kyle Hamilton is an important addition to that secondary and Tyler Linderbaum will be a huge help on the offensive line. Many said that the Jets won the draft with their three first round picks, but Baltimore had an outstanding draft night too.

While I think the Jets will be improved this year I don’t think they are close to the Ravens who I believe are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. The Jets don’t even know who will be their Week 1 starter yet and it could possibly be Joe Flacco.

Pick: Ravens -6.5 (-114)
