I’ve made fun of Mike Tomlin’s record of never having a losing season as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he might do it again. After a 2-6 start, the Steelers are 5-7 and winners of two-straight. They’re already through the hardest part of their schedule and now, the Baltimore Ravens might not have their quarterback for at least one of their two upcoming matchups. Baltimore is 8-4 after a last second touchdown by Tyler Huntley to beat Denver 10-9 last week, but they’re vulnerable as long as Lamar Jackson is out.

It’s scary to say and it might blow up in my face, but the Steelers could win out or go 9-8 and have a shot at the playoffs.

Ravens vs. Steelers Prediction and Pick

If Tyler Huntley plays then it is advantage Pittsburgh and the line reflects that right now, but John Harbaugh has said that Jackson’s injury has him out “days-to-weeks.” Maybe he will play this week and if he does, that doesn’t mean that Baltimore is in the clear. No team defends Jackson better than the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jackson has his worst quarterback rating against any opponent against the Steelers and is 2-3 in his five starts against them. He has six interceptions to just four touchdowns and he’s been sacked 16 times. He also only runs for 43.4 yards per game against Pittsburgh, so they shut down his arm and his legs when they face off. The offense doesn’t change much if Huntley plays and the Steelers had a lot of success in their OT win vs. Huntley and the Ravens in Week 18 last year. Huntley went 16/31 passing for 141 yards and two picks. He did run for 72 yards though.

The Steelers won that game in Week 18 last year with Ben Roethlisberger’s corpse playing quarterback and while Kenny Pickett isn’t prime Big Ben, he’s been playing very well the past few games. He isn’t turning the ball over, the run-game has been effective and Baltimore’s pass defense is bottom 10 in the league, so Pickett could keep his strong play going.

Pick: Steelers -124
