Rays vs. Red Sox Game 4 Prediction and Odds: Value on the Total
By Reed Wallach
The Boston Red Sox walked it off against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 on Sunday, taking a 2-1 series lead, and now will look to eliminate the AL East champs on Monday.
After a 13-inning thriller, how will both teams respond? Let’s dive into the odds, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Red Sox: +1.5 (-190)
Total: 9.5 (Over +100/Under -120)
Red Sox vs. Rays Prediction and Pick
The total is high, but I believe that both offenses are going to have their way against the opposing pitching staff. Let’s start with the Rays, who are faced with elimination after looking so dominant in Game 1.
Tampa Bay used nine pitchers in Sunday’s loss and now will send out Collin McHugh, who has worked as an opener this season for the Rays. He also pitched in Game 2 and got rocked by a hot Red Sox lineup, allowing three runs over 1.2 innings.
If McHugh can’t give some length, three innings appears to be the max for him this season, a fatigued bullpen is going to be forced to piece together a win. While the Rays bullpen has been stellar this season, best in the AL by ERA, the Red Sox are going to put up runs against an overworked pen.
On the other side, Eduardo Rodriguez will toe the slab for Boston after he was pulled in the second inning against the Rays in Game 1. Not only that, but this is par for the course in E-Rod's career. He has struggled against Tampa Bay, allowing a .275 batting average over 142 at bats and 26 runs.
I simply can’t back either pitching staff to hold up their end of the bargain, so I’ll side with the over in Game 4.
Pick: Over 9.5
