Tampa Bay wraps up their trip to Western Ohio on Sunday afternoon with Game 3 against the Cincinnati Reds. It will be two highly touted pitching prospects on the mound as Shane Baz faces Nick Lodolo.

Baz makes his sixth start of the year for the Rays while Lodolo makes his fifth start for Cincinnati. Both have missed time this year with injury, but appear to have bright futures after being former first round picks.

Rays vs. Reds Prediction and Pick

I mentioned that both Shane Baz and Nick Lodolo were former first round draft picks, but as a matter of fact they were both former Pittsburgh Pirates first round picks. As a Pirates fan myself, this game will be absolutely miserable to watch. Shane Baz was the “player to be named later” in the infamous Chris Archer trade, a top 10 pick who was thrown into one of the worst trades ever.

Nick Lodolo has a little bit less of a painful history, but in 2016 he was the Pirates' second first round pick, their first being Will Craig. If you remember Craig he issued us one of the worst plays anyone has ever seen last season.

Lodolo did not sign with the Pirates out of high school, instead went to TCU and was a top-10 pick to Cincinnati a few years later.

I say all of this to say that this game will assuredly break my heart as too young stud pitchers who should be the linchpins of the Pirates rotation go head-to-head.

Pick: Under 9 (-105)
