The first major tournament of the 2023 calander year is officially in the books. Jon Rahm has won his first green jacket and his second major victory of his career.

The RBC Heritage once again follows up The Masters, but whereas this event is usually a weak field after most golfers who competed at Augusta National take this week off, that won't be the case this year. The tournament is now considered an "elevated" event, which means we're going to see the majority of top golfers compete at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Rory McIlroy and Jason Day are the two big names who won't be competing this week.

Let's dive into the latest odds and then I'll give you my best bets for the tournament.

Odds to Win the RBC Heritage

Best Bet: Patrick Cantlay (+1100)

The usual suspects led last week's Masters in strokes gained: tee-to-green. Jon Rahm lead the field in that stat and Scottie Scheffler came in second, with only a horrible first two rounds with his putter holding him back from being in contention on Sunday.

The third name in that stat last week was none other than Patrick Cantlay. He was also uncharacteristically betrayed by his putter, but now he returns to a tournament he's had a lot of success at in the past. He lost in a playoff to Jordan Spieth last year and also has two 3rd place finishes and a 7th place finish as well.

A guy whose game is trending in the right direction returning to a course he has great history at sounds like a winner to me.

Russell Henley +400

Speaking of a golfer who is trending in the right direction, take a look at Russell Henley's recent results. He finished T19 at The Players Championship, then followed it up with a T17, then finally an impressive T4 at last week's Masters.

He also has a strong history at the RBC Heritage, finishing in 6th place in 2014 and 9th place in 2021.

His putter was bad early in the season, but it's been hot lately including gaining +1.38 strokes on the field at The Masters in that area last week.

He's a strong Top 10 bet at Harbour Town.

Tom Hoge (+333)

I've been betting on Tom Hoge a lot in recent weeks to no avail, but I can't help but think how well his style of play fits this course. Strong approach play and accuracy (not distance) off the tee is what gets it done at Harbour Town, and that's exactly how I'd describe Hoge's game.

He enters the tournament ranking 1st in strokes gained: approach and 25th in driving accuracy. His 130th ranking in distance won't hurt him this week, so at +335 to finish in the Top 20, I love that bet.
