It didn't take long for offseason transfer drama to take center stage for two of the biggest names in soccer, or for bettors to take notice and try and strike on the latest rumors.

Reports emerged recently suggesting French superstar Kylian Mbappé may be on his way out at PSG amidst reported deterioration in contract negotiations between the two sides.

Real Madrid is rumored to be Mbappé's preferred landing spot and it seems oddsmakers agree.

Despite a down season for the Spanish powerhouse, Real Madrid's current odds to win the Champions League next year are +800. That's the third-best odds behind only defending champion Manchester City (+200) and Bayern Munich (+600).

What makes those odds even more head-scratching is Real just lost their top goal scorer of the 2022-23 season, Karim Benzema, who is leaving for big bucks in Saudi Arabia.

So you're telling me a team that finished second in La Liga and was ousted by Man City in the Champions League by a 5-1 aggregate score has the third-best odds to win the most competitive tournament in the world? Something isn't right there, and it's likely oddsmakers expect them to make a big splash in the transfer market this offseason.

Real Madrid is by far and away the most successful team in the Champions League history since its inception. They've won 14 titles, twice as many as second-place Inter-Milan. Adding Mbappé would only enhance their chances, meaning it might be time to bet on them to win now.

Real won La Liga and the Champions League in 2021-22, but suffered a fall from grace this past season. They were 10 points behind rival Barcelona in the La Liga title and suffered a humbling 4-0 loss to City in the second leg of the aforementioned Champions League semifinal.

A team famous for its striker quality, including most famously Ronaldo, Real seems like the perfect fit for Mbappé if he does leave PSG. Mbappé's already won a World Cup title with France and was electric in leading Les Bleus back to the most recent World Cup Final, but he hasn't won a Champions League title and has been embroiled in several contract disputes throughout his tenure with PSG.

Mbappé has one more year on his contract with PSG and the most recent dispute reportedly surrounds him not wanting to sign an extension and PSG saying if he doesn't he'll be transferred. It appears we've reached a boiling point and the next step is a move.
