It's gotten ugly for the Halos after Sunday's latest loss, making it 11 straight.

The Angels blew leads in both the 8th and 9th inning to drop their 11th game in a row, falling to under .500 on the season. They now head home to face a hot Red Sox team that has battled back to .500.

Who has the edge between two teams heading in opposite directions?

Here are the odds for Monday's series opener courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook:

Red Sox vs. Angels Odds, Run Line, Total

Run Line:

  • Red Sox: +1.5 (-180)
  • Angels: -1.5 (+150)

Moneyline:

  • Red Sox: +110
  • Angels: -120

Total: 8.5 (Over -125/Under +105)

Red Sox vs. Angels Prediction and Pick

Not only are the Angels losers of 11 straight, they are losing in brutal fashion. After blowing a 5-run lead in the 8th inning, courtesy of a game-tying Bryce Harper grand slam, the team then surrendered their 1-run lead in the 9th on a walk off homer, capping a miserable road trip.

Now they face a Red Sox team that has erased a slow start and are at .500 on the year. The Red Sox offense is the best in baseball on a wRC+ basis since May 15th and will face Noah Syndergaard, who has been up-and-down in his first season with LA.

Syndergaard's strikeout rate is down as he has transitioned into another stage of his career which is based around his control. He is striking out six batters per 9 innings, down from his God of Thunder like rate of double digits.

He'll be countered by Michael Wacha of the Red Sox, who has an ERA below 3 in his first season with Boston. Wacha has nice metrics, but his FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) is above 4, will he get some negative variance against the Angels?

I'm not banking on it. The Angels are in a bad way right now and had to travel cross country back for a game against a surging Red Sox team. Los Angeles is bottom-5 in bullpen ERA, so if this game is tight late I trust the Red Sox pen to carry them home.

As an underdog, I'll side with Boston in what is shaping up to be a 12th straight loss for the Angels.

LEAN: Red Sox +110
