Red Sox vs. Angels Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, June 7 (Similar Teams Heading in Very Different Directions)
By Matt De Saro
The Los Angeles Angels will host the Boston Red Sox in the second game of a four-game series at Angel Stadium. The teams have nearly identical records heading into this matchup, but they couldn't be more different. Basically, the Red Sox are playing fantastic baseball right now while the Angels are watching their season crumble in front of them.
The Halos have lost a shocking 12 games in a row including Game 1 of this series last night, by a final score of 1-0. Their offense has been a mess after scoring one or fewer runs in five of their previous seven games. The Red Sox, on the other hand, are on a five-game winning streak after sweeping the A’s over the weekend.

Red Sox vs. Angels Prediction and Pick
The Angels will try to get their offense back on track tonight against Garrett Whitlock making his eighth start of the season. Whitlock continues to impress as a member of the BoSox after finishing last year with a 1.96 ERA in 46 appearances out of the bullpen. Currently, Whitlock has a 3.02 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 44 ⅔ innings. He also has a fantastic batting average of .125 against the current Angels lineup. Both Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout are hitless with a strikeout against Whitlock. This will be his second start against the Angels this year after giving up two earned runs in five innings with nine strikeouts and no walks in his first matchup.
Meanwhile, The Angels are laboring through yet another season despite two Hall of Famers on the roster with four MVP awards between them. After getting out to a strong 24-13 start, the party's over and the Angles are in trouble. They are losers of 15 of their last 18 and rank 27th on offense with 3.2 runs per game average. It’s easy to see why as Trout is 4-for-42 (0.95) in the Angels' last 11 games while Ohtani is 6-for-35 in the same time. Reid Detmers gets the nod for the Angels but is not good enough to make up for how bad this offense is right now. Until Trout, Ohtani, and this offense can get the engines fired up again, LA is a hard team to trust.
Pick: Red Sox -135 to win
