Red Sox vs. Athletics Prediction and Odds for June 4 (Boston’s Offense Will Overpower Oakland)
By Josh Yourish
Boston (25-27) is inching their way back toward .500 after a rough start to the season. Trevor Story has started to fit in and is a key to their resurgence. The offseason signing had two RBI's in the Sox 7-2 win over Oakland (20-34).
The A’s look to Paul Blackburn on Saturday afternoon in northern California, while Boston has Nick Pivetta on the mound.
Story wasn’t the only middle infielder contributing for Boston yesterday. Xander Bogaerts homered and has now started the most games at shortstop in a Boston Red Sox uniform. An important milestone for a player with an uncertain future. Bogaerts will likely opt out of his contract and become a free agent after the season.

Red Sox vs. Athletics Prediction and Picks
Paul Blackburn has suddenly cut his hits per nine in half from over 12 to around 6, in his 6th year in the majors. Out of nowhere he’s become one of the best pitchers in the American League, but in his last start he gave up four earned runs, his most of the year and suffered his first loss.
Nick Pivetta struggled early in the year, but since he went six scoreless innings on May 7th, he’s been great for Boston. He’s only allowed five earned runs in his last five starts combined. Surprisingly the pitching matchup is about a draw, even with how excellent Blackburn has been.
That means we look to the lineup each starter will be pitching to. Needless to say, advantage Boston. Boston is fifth in team OPS, Oakland is 29th. Boston is 17th in the league in homeruns, Oakland is 29th. Boston is 8th in run differential, Oakland is 23rd.
Pick: Boston -1.5 (+110)
