The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers are both on the brink of elimination. Two of the prior three World Series champions are in danger of coming up short on their goal to get back to the top of Major League Baseball; is there hope for either team?

At WynnBET Sportsbook, the Red Sox are +330 to come back from 3-2 down to the Houston Astros (-400) to advance to the World Series. The Dodgers are +350 to win three in a row for the second straight year against the Atlanta Braves (-430).

Let's break down each team's hopes of making some October magic.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves

The Dodgers are running out of options. Now the team is down two key hitters in Max Muncy and Justin Turner after it was announced Turner has a grade two hamstring strain.

Yes, Los Angeles is the most talented roster in all of baseball, but they are banged up and exhausted. After a five game thriller against the Giants in the NLDS that was decided in the ninth, the team has asked a ton from their pitching staff.

Game 5 is a likely bullpen game, and I'm going to side with Atlanta closing out this series, especially with two games in Atlanta to close this out if the Dodgers are able to extend the series into the weekend.

Red Sox vs. Astros - ALCS Game 5

The Red Sox seemed poised to pull away from the Astros in Game 4, taking a 3-1 series, lead but a ninth inning explosion tied the series and then Houston took care of business in Game 5 to take a 3-2 lead back to Minute Maid Park with a chance to close out Boston.

The Red Sox will start Nathan Eovaldi in Game 6, the team's most reliable arm. Game 7 will likely be Eduardo Rodriguez if Boston can get that far, who was fantastic in Game 3, but has struggled against Houston in the past, allowing over a .300 batting average before going six innings.

The real question comes with the Astros pitching staff. The bullpen was heroic in Game 4 and Framber Valdez gave a heroic outing in Game 5, but the team has a ton of questions without Lance McCullers Jr. Luis Garcia and Jose Urquidy struggled this series while Zach Greinke remains limited after a neck injury.

Despite dropping two straight, I wouldn't count out the explosive Boston lineup that has an edge in the pitching department.

Red Sox vs. Dodgers: Who to Bet

If it's not apparent, I still think the Red Sox can win this series. Eovaldi did get the loss in Game 4, but he's as clutch as they come. Boston is a slight underdog in Game 6, +105, but I expect Eovaldi to show up and push this series to the decisive Game 7.

Buying on the Red Sox right now at +300 is a valuable bet with an opportunity to hedge in a toss-up Game 7.
