Red Sox vs. Orioles Prediction and Odds for Sunday, May 1st (OVER is the Bet on Sunday)
By Matt De Saro
The two worst teams in the AL East battle it out on Sunday to close out a three-game series at Camden Yards. The fourth-place Red Sox and fifth place Orioles could still be a strong game, despite some weak performances. The Orioles started off poor and have continued losing games left and right. They have lost their last three series in a row and were recently swept by the Yankees in three games.
Things aren’t going that much better for Boston after losing their last three series. One against the Rays and two against the Blue Jays. Boston went 3-7 straight up in those ten games. The Red Sox are now 5-9 on the year against the AL East.

Red Sox vs. Orioles Prediction and Pick
Nick Pivetta will make his fifth start for the Red Sox after a hopeful previous start. Pivetta still gave up two runs in 4 ⅔ innings. He still walked four batters. But, he didn’t collapse against a very good Blue Jays team. It’s a low bar, but one Pivetta failed to reach in any of his previous three starts. It was the first game all year he held a team to under four runs. Still, his ERA is 8.27 and his WHIP is ugly at 1.96. I don't’ think that he turned a corner as much as he just had a good day in Toronto.
Jordan Lyles will start opposite Pivetta less than a week after getting torched by the New York Yankees. Lyles gave up six earned runs in 4 ⅔ innings, including three home runs. He has been very hit and miss as he held the Yankees to one run in 5 ⅓ innings two weeks ago. His inconsistency worries me into not trusting him to be able to turn in a quality start.
While neither team has a great offense, I think that the pitching on Sunday is more suspect. I’m willing to bet at least one of these guys gets blown up.
