Red Sox vs. Rays Prediction and Odds for Monday, July 11 (Fade Boston With Rookie Bello Making Second Ever Start)

After a comeback win on Sunday Night Baseball against their bitter rivals, the Boston Red Sox go up against another AL East rival in the Tampa Bay Rays.

The pair have been jockeying for second place in the division for a couple of weeks now though neither is within more than a dozen games of catching the white-hot New York Yankees.

These two teams played a three-game series last week as well. While the Rays shut Boston out 4-0 in Game 1, the Red Sox came back and won the last two games of the series by a combined score of 15-5.

Rays vs. Red Sox Prediction and Pick

Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello made his MLB debut on Wednesday against, you guessed it, the Rays. To say things did not go well would be a gross understatement. 

Bello was all over the place with three walks compared to two strikeouts. When all was said and done, the Rays had scored four runs on Bello in four innings. It took him 79 pitches to get through 21 batters and four innings. The Rays hit .306 in that game with a .944 OPS and three extra-base hits. 

Another worry for Bello is his results during the first and second time through this rotation. The Rays went 2-for-8 with one run scored the first time around. However, the second time though, Tampa Bay went 3-for-7 with three runs scored and two walks. 

While we don’t yet know the starter for Tampa Bay, there is no way I’m going to bet on Bello. I am, however, interested in seeing how many runs the Rays score in their second time seeing the rookie.
