Red Sox vs. Rays Prediction: Sale Will Tie the Series
By Thomas Snodgrass
The Boston Red Sox got shutout in ALDS Game 1 against their AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays, 5-0. The Red Sox strung together hits, but all of them were singles, and the lineup left 20 runners on base.
Rays’ pitcher Shane McClanahan hurled five scoreless innings with zero walks, while his counterpart Eduardo Rodriguez struggled for Boston in just 1 ⅔ innings pitched.
Chris Sale gets the start tonight for the Red Sox. Sale made nine starts in the regular season after recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he only got through the fifth innings just once.
22-year old right-hander Shane Baz will make his postseason debut for Tampa Bay. Baz recorded an ERA of 2.03 in 13 ⅓ innings in the regular season.

Red Sox vs. Rays Prediction
The Red Sox hit the New York Yankees hard in the AL Wild Card game and then put up nine hits in ALDS Game 1, but unfortunately, they were all singles. I like how Boston has been hitting, and I like their lineup even more if JD Martinez returns to the middle of it. This lineup will have to keep Shane Baz from making a name for himself in order to tie the series.
Although Chris Sale has not gone deep into games this season, he may need to shoulder the load in this one after the Red Sox bullpen got taxed last night. I trust him to get the job done and get potentially six solid innings.
Boston will flip the script and even the series in Game 2.
I’m taking the Red Sox at +123.
Will the Red Sox even the series with the Rays?
