Red Wings vs. Canadiens Prediction and Odds
By Matt De Saro
The Detroit Red Wings head North to take on the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre on Tuesday night. This is a rematch from two weeks ago in a game where the Habs dismantled the Red Wings 6-1. Naturally, Detroit will be out for a spot of revenge here.
The Red Wings have played decent hockey this season and have a 4-5 record after the first couple of weeks, The team is coming off back-to-back losses against Florida and Toronto on the road. Each of those games was particularly gut-wrenching as they ended within one goal each. I think this is a very positive start to the season for Detroit who has a lot of young talent on the rise.
Montreal is also riding a two-game losing streak and would love nothing more than to beat up on the Red Wings twice in a row. For a team that played in the Stanley Cup Finals last year, the Habs have looked awful to start the season. They are 2-8 on the season and rank 28th in scoring and 29th in goals allowed per game. This is no way to win games.
So, can the Habs bounce back from this putrid start, or will the Red Wing march into Montreal and exact their revenge for last week? Here are the odds for tonight’s matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Red Wings vs. Canadiens Prediction and Pick
As we’ve already touched upon, the Canadiens have had a dreadful start to the season thus far. But, this is a game they can win. Just take a look back at the throttling the Habs put on the Red Wings a few games back. Making things worse for Detroit is they will be skating without Tyler Bertuzzi who is considered their best player. He might not be the best teammate, however, as he is not playing due to his inability to enter Canada as the only player in the entire NHL that has yet to be vaccinated for COVID-19. It is a big, and unnecessary, loss for a team that needs their best player on the ice.
The Habs also have the advantage on the goaltending side of things with Jake Allen between the pipes. While he has had a slow start along with his team, his best game so far this year was against the Red Wings and he has a career 2.44 GAA then playing Detroit.
While it is clear that there is something awry in Montreal, this game is a win for the Habs in my book.
Pick: Montreal Canadiens -135 ML
