The Detroit Red Wings head to Madison Square Garden on Thursday night for an Original Six matchup with the New York Rangers.

The Red Wings are desperate for wins, as they're likely the only team left in the Eastern Conference that still has a chance to make a run at a spot in the playoffs. The Rangers, on the other hand, are looking to reclaim the top spot in the Metropolitan Division.

This will serve as the first of three meetings between these two teams this season.

Let's take a look at the odds via WynnBET for tonight's game.

Red Wings vs. Rangers Prediction and Pick

As much as I don't think the Rangers are as good as their record indicates, it's best not to overthink this game. We have a team with some of the best goaltending in the NHL going up against a team with some of the worst.

Over each team's last 25 games, the Rangers rank third in the NHL in save percentage, stopping 91.92 percent of shots. The Red Wings, on the other hand, rank 29th in team save percentage during that stretch, stopping just 88.77 percent of shots on net.

The Red Wings also rank 19th in high danger scoring chances against, and now they face a Rangers team that's ninth in the league in shooting percentage.

This is a bad matchup for the Red Wings, I'd lean towards the Rangers on the moneyline tonight.

Lean: Rangers -190
