Cincinnati and Chicago open a three-gamer at Wrigley Field to decide the worst team in the NL Central. The Reds currently hold that distinction at 25-47, but Chicago has a chance to stake its claim to the basement of the division as it comes in at just 28-45.

The Reds hand the ball to Luis Castillo for Game 1 and the Cubs give the start to Keegan Thompson.

Reds vs. Cubs Prediction and Pick

I set this up as a battle to see who the worst team in the division is, but if you’ve been paying attention lately, I think you already know. Cincinnati staked its claim with its last ten games, going 2-8 with an outrageously bad 6.65 team ERA, though the Reds did manage to take two of three from the Giants out in San Francisco.

Chicago has managed a 5-5 record over its last 10 games and a series win over the Cardinals. Keegan Thompson is 7-2 on the year and has been stellar in his last two starts. He has to be feeling good after twelve innings of one run ball in those outings.

I can’t help but wonder which Keegan Thompson would be worse at the other one’s job if the two had to switch for a week.

I have to imagine the pitcher wouldn’t be able to hold his own with Pete Davidson on a live sketch, but the actor wouldn’t be able to get out of the first inning. At least the actor would be entertaining on the mound while he’s giving up 500 foot bombs, so I think that’s your answer.

Anyways both these teams are awful and the Reds are going to out awful the Cubs.

Pick: Cubs -118
