Reds vs. Yankees Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, July 12 (Count on Runs in the Bronx)
By Reed Wallach
The best in the Major Leagues return home to face a lowly opponent.
The New York Yankees are at the top of baseball, and it doesn't hurt to face the Cincinnati Reds after coming off of a grueling series vs. their rival in the Boston Red Sox.
The Yanks send out ace Gerrit Cole to open the series against rookie Graham Ashcraft, who has fallen off the last month.
How should we bet this Tuesday meeting? Here are the latest odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook:
Reds vs. Yankees Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Reds: +1.5 (+120)
- Yankees: -1.5 (-145)
Moneyline:
- Reds: +260
- Yankees: -300
Total:
- 8.5 (Over -115/Under -105)
Reds vs. Yankees Prediction and Pick
This is a big mismatch with Cole's ability to overpower hitters, but I believe the Reds can plate enough runs to help send this game over the total.
While Cole has put up his typical numbers, his FIP is nearly a half-run higher than his ERA and he has struggled with the long ball this season. He has allowed five home runs in his last three starts and Yankee Stadium will be ripe for hitters to mash with wind blowing out at 13 miles per hour.
If the Reds can barrel a few balls, that'll help send this over, but the Yankees are more than capable of a massive output on Tuesday. New York is set to face Ashcraft, who has an ERA of 7.17 over his last four starts.
The Yanks have the best wRC+ in baseball in the month of July and my favorite look is to the over on Tuesday.
LEAN: OVER 8.5 (-115)
