Reggie Jackson Expected to Build on Strong Game 5 Performance
By Peter Dewey
Has anyone taken advantage of a playoff run more than Reggie Jackson?
The Los Angeles Clippers guard is playing himself into a major contract this coming offseason, as he’s emerged as the Clippers’ second-best player with Kawhi Leonard out of the lineup due to a knee injury.
WynnBET has taken notice of Jackson’s improved play, and it has upped his player prop for points to 20.5 for Wednesday’s Game 6. The over (-110) and under (-110) are a pick’em on Jackson’s prop, but the increased total signals that he’s expected to have another strong performance.
In the seven games that Leonard has missed, Jackson has played the part of a second star to perfection. He’s averaging 22.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from beyond the arc.
He’s also played 37.7 minutes per game over that stretch, which bodes well for his shots and touches to reach the over on his player prop. Jackson has scored over 20.5 points in five of his last seven games, and he’s been consistent throughout.
Even in the games Jackson missed going over 20.5, he finished with 19 and 20 points respectively. He’s about as hot as any player in the playoffs right now, but his entire 2020-21 season is part of the reason I’m backing him tonight.
While the minutes and the averages have gone up, Jackson had a bit of a career resurgence this year. He shot 45.0 percent from the field and a career-high 43.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Despite trailing the Western Conference Finals 3-1 earlier this week, the Clippers stormed back in Game 5 and are just a win away from forcing a winner-take-all Game 7. Ty Lue has his team playing inspired basketball without Leonard, and Jackson has been the driving force behind Paul George.
Tonight’s Game 6 in Los Angeles is set as a pick’em, and the Clippers seem to have some momentum over the Phoenix Suns after stealing Game 5 on the road.
I think Jackson is able to deliver on the over tonight and keep the Clippers’ NBA title hopes alive.
