Reid Detmers No-Hitter Immediately Gives Him Betting Value to Win AL Rookie of the Year
The first individual no-hitter of the 2022 MLB season came from an unlikely source.
Los Angeles Angels rookie pitcher, Reid Detmers, blanked the Tampa Bay Rays on May 10th. He walked only one hitter on his way to a 12-0 win for the Angels.
It was only his 11th start of his MLB career and his sixth of the season. The performance lowered his season ERA to 3.77. It now immediately moves him into the conversation for American League Rookie of the Year.

Reid Detmers Has Value at +2000
There's no doubt in my mind that Reid Detmers presents the best value on the board to win AL ROY at +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000). I'll admit it, I might be biased due to betting on him before the year started, but I stand by it.
Sure, his 3.77 is solid, but what is even better is his WHIP of 0.839. In the small sample size of only six starts this season, a five ER start against the Rangers is hurting his ERA, but if he keeps racking up starts like this, that number is going to drop in a hurry.
The offensive players, like Julio Rodriguez and Spencer Torkelson, might be sexier bets. But there's certainly no other player who presents as much value from a betting perspective as the Angels rookie arm.
