Despite the New England Patriots trading away Sony Michel, you can believe they will always have a new running back ready to deploy on the league.

Right now, Rhamondre Stevenson is in that role and he is ready to show what he can do.

WynnBET currently has Stevenson with +1500 odds to have the most scrimmage yards of all rookies in Week 1 and +2000 to lead the rookie class in scrimmage yards throughout the season. While those odds are long, Stevenson could make a case for himself if he gets an opportunity. Stevenson is +4000 on the list for Offensive Rookie of the Year right now, ahead of first-round wide receivers Rashod Bateman and Kadarius Toney.

Stevenson finished the preseason with nearly 250 scrimmage yards (with over 200 of those coming on the ground) and five touchdowns. Based on what Bill Belichick has done in the past, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Stevenson get quality game action once the regular season starts.

Damien Harris is tagged as the starting back with Michel in Los Angeles, but he now has to compete to stay ahead of Stevenson. Although the situation was a little different, we just saw Cam Newton released in favor of Mac Jones. I’m not saying Harris is going to be off the team soon or that Stevenson is going to start Week 1, but having a starting spot in a Bellichick offense isn’t the most secure job in the world.

The Patriots had five players score rushing touchdowns last year, with Cam Newton scoring a majority of them. With Newton gone, the rushing duties are going to fall on the running backs even more. With Mac Jones at the helm, expect Stevenson to not only see the field, but be a heavy part of the Patriots' committee.
