Richmond vs. North Carolina State Prediction and Pick

Both of these teams are elite at protecting the ball, Richmond is 13th in turnover rate and NC State is 14th, so I expect both offenses to operate efficiently, but I believe there is an edge for the Pack on both sides of the ball.

Richmond is very three-point dependent, hitting on 38% of their shots from deep on a top 50 rate nationally, but North Carolina State does a fine job of limiting those looks with their stingy on ball defense and length on the perimeter. Further, Richmond is a bottom 20 club in offensive rebounding rate, so Kevin Keatts club can limit the Spiders to one shot.

On the other end, North Carolina State does a good job of cleaning the glass, top 100 in offensive rebounding rate and getting to the free throw line, where they hit on 72% of their tries. The team plays an isolation-centric offense so if they can rack up fouls, they can take advantage at the charity stripe against a Richmond team that is shooting 63% as a team.

The Spiders may have the more explosive offense from the perimeter, but I have this game lined as a pick 'em on a neutral so I'll take the two points. Don't count out that there can be a decent crowd for NC State, who will be just a two hour drive from Raleigh.

PICK: NC State +2, play to PK
