Rob Gronkowski vs. Kyle Pitts: Who Will Have More Receiving Yards in Falcons vs. Buccaneers?
By Thomas Snodgrass
Atlanta Falcons rookie tight end Kyle Pitts had high expectations in Week 1, but failed to live up to the hype, catching four passes for 31 yards. But, the grizzled veteran, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski, put on a show at Raymond James stadium.
The two tight ends will face off against each other in Week 2. Who will have more yards, Gronkowski or Pitts?
The Falcons got destroyed by the Philadelphia Eagles last week, and tight ends Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz had a collective six catches on seven targets, for 76 yards and a touchdown; Goedert taking most of the yards with 42.
The success of the tight ends from Philadelphia against Atlanta last week should be a good sign for Gronkowski to have success in Week 2. Gronkowski caught eight passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns last week and remains one of Tom Brady’s most reliable targets.
WynnBET has Gronkowski’s receiving yards total set at 40.5 (over -116/under -115) with the over just slightly favored.
The Buccaneers defense allowed the Dallas Cowboys tight end tandem a collective nine catches on 10 targets, for 65 yards and zero touchdowns; Dalton Schultz leading the Dallas duo with 45 receiving yards.
Tampa Bay struggled with outside receivers Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb, both posting massive games in the box score, which could lead Matt Ryan to potentially look Calvin Ridley’s way more in Week 2, after Ridley and Pitts tied last week in the team lead in targets.
WynnBET currently has Kyle Pitts receiving yards total set at 47.5 (over -120/under -112), with the over as the favorite.
Both Gronkowski and Pitts have decent matchups to go over their receiving yards totals, but with the Atlanta defense being so porous, it’s hard not to take Gronkowski in this one.
