The PGA Tour heads to Detroit Golf Club for this week's Rocket Mortgage Classic.

It's not a "designated event", but that makes it more interesting in some ways. Sure, there are a few big names competing, like Justin Thomas and Tony Finau, but it also leaves some potential for a few longshots to make their mark.

Let's take a look at the odds to win this week's event and then I'll give you my best bets to place.

Odds to win Rocket Mortgage Classic

Rocket Mortgage Classic picks and predictions

Justin Thomas +1800

I have been staying away from Justin Thomas for the better part of the season, but now might just be the time to pounce on him. He looked to have found something last week at the Travelers Championship, gaining 1.95 strokes per round with his approach game. That's the most he's gained with his irons since March of 2021.

Now, he has a chance to attack a weak field and really get some confidence back. He's by far the most talented golfer in the field and he's still available at 18/1.

Tom Kim Top 5 +425

I've bet on Tom Kim more than I should have lately, but this course fits his style of play well. Accuracy off the tee is far more important than distance at Detroit Golf Club, which is great news for Kim. He's also at his best with approach shots shorter than 150 yards. In fact, he ranks second on the Tour in approach proximity from 125-150 yards.

At this week's event, the majority of approach shots will come from shorter than 150 yards. Another box checked for Kim.

I'll stay away from betting on him to win, but I think he's a great bet to finish in the top 5 at +425.

Carson Young Top 20 +400

Carson Young has quietly been in great form in recent weeks. He has four top 20 finishes and another T21 finish dating back to the RBC Heritage in April. Considering we can get him at +400 to finish in the top 20 again at a weak event, it seems like a great bet to make.

Much like Kim, Young isn't long off the tee, ranking just 127th in average driving distance. But, he's 43rd in driving accuracy which will prove useful in Detroit.
