Rockets vs. Pelicans Prediction and Odds for Saturday, November 12 (Houston Can Stay Within Big Spread)
By Reed Wallach
The Pelicans have proven that they have the talent to compete with anyone, but they remain at .500 in a crowded Western Conference.
However, the team is a heavy favorite against the lowly Rockets, who sit at 2-10 on the year and are still in the early stages of their rebuild. While the Pelicans hit on their draft picks and made the necessary moves to be a threat in the postseason, Houston is a few years away. New Orleans has been iffy in spots where they are expected to win, though, a sign that there is still room for this team to grow.
What should we expect on Saturday night? Here are the odds:

Rockets vs. Pelicans Prediction and Pick
The Pelicans have far more talent than the Rockets, but the team has continued to flounder as a favorite, going 2-5 against the spread as a favorite this season. Overall, the team is 5-7 ATS.
While the Rockets leave a ton to be desired on both sides of the floor, bottom ten in points scored and allowed per 100 possessions, I think this team can stay within the double digit spread. The Pelicans allow the sixth-highest three point attempts in the league per game, nearly 36, and the Rockets will happily put them up. With more variance coming from beyond the arc, there's more opportunity for Houston to stay close to New Orleans.
Houston isn't the most efficient offense, 27th in effective field goal percentage, but the team is playing far better from the first handful of games - ranking third in points per 100 possessions over the last week (four games). For what it's worth, New Orleans is 10th in that same time frame.
I'll take Houston at a big number to stay cooking on offense and make this a game.
