Rockies vs. Giants Prediction and Odds for Monday, May 9 (Giants' Bullpen Edge Proves The Difference)
By Joe Summers
The 16-12 San Francisco Giants have won two straight after a five-game losing streak and open a three-game series today with the Colorado Rockies at 9:45 PM EST.
Colorado has been impressive this season. They've won six of their last nine and send Austin Gomber to the hill. He has a quality start in each of his last three outings, with a 1.98 ERA in that stretch.
But, his opponent today has been even better. Carlos Rodon has a 1.55 ERA on the year and hasn't allowed more than two runs a single time this season.
Can Rodon stay hot and propel San Francisco to victory or will Gomber and the Rockies prove a feisty underdog?

Rockies vs Giants Prediction and Pick
Carlos Rodon may be the NL Cy Young winner if the season ended today. There's obviously a long way to go, but he's been sensational. His pitching profile from Baseball Savant is downright silly:
Rodon will face his stiffest test yet in a Rockies' lineup that leads MLB in OPS against left-handed pitchers. It's worth mentioning, though, that Colorado has been significantly worse on the road than at home. Their team OPS is .805 at home but just .643 on the road, which would put them at 23rd in the league.
The Rockies have lost six of their last seven away from home while averaging only two runs per game in that stretch.
San Francisco's offense hasn't been superb, by any means, but they should be able to scratch some runs across the board against Gomber. His pitching profile is hardly elite:
He's likely not going to continue his stellar play, but results are results and he has plenty of good results thus far. I'm tempted to take the under, but Colorado's bullpen is the second-worst in the league in ERA, so I can't trust them to hold the Giants' bats down. Instead, I'll look to the first five under 3.5 runs. I expect Rodon to shut the Rockies down, and Gomber should do his part in keeping the early score low.
After we get to the relievers, the Giants should break it open. Their bullpen has faltered of late but is still one of the better units in baseball. Look for San Francisco to come alive late to beat Colorado by multiple runs for the eighth consecutive game.
Pick: Giants -1.5 (-115) and First Five Innings Under 3.5 (-120)
