Rockies vs. Nationals Game 2 Doubleheader Prediction and Odds for Saturday, May 28 (Fade Adon At All Costs)
By Reed Wallach
A pair of National League bottom feeders continue their weekend series in the Nation's Capital.
The Rockies and Nationals are both in the midst of rebuilds, but Washington would love to see some progress from young starter who is struggling in his first full season in the big league, leading the majors in walks. The Rockies will look to pounce on him and grab a victory with Chad Kuhl toeing the slab on Saturday afternoon.
How should we bet it? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Rockies vs. Nationals Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Rockies: +1.5
- Nationals: -1.5
Moneyline:
- Rockies: +105
- Nationals: -115
Total: 9.5 (Over -105/Under -115)
Rockies vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick
It's tough to find positives for Adon this season. Like I said, he's leading the bigs in walks this season through 8 starts and has an ERA of 6.97 and is struggling to find his punch out pitch, just 7.6 per 9 innings.
The Rockies offense has been hitting well, but not cashing in often. The team is 5th in batting average in the month of May, but is 27th in wRC+, which is a ball park normalized rating for run scoring chances. This seems like the right time to take advantage of a gas can like Adon and put some runs on the board.
Colorado is going to start Kuhl, who has been solid this season, and particularly better away from the hitter friendly Coors Field. He has limited his walks compared to his career mark and should avoid trouble against a middling Nationals offense. Overall, Kuhl's ERA is more than a run lower on the road at 3.20.
I see a decent edge on the mound and I'll back a Rockies offense that has been hitting well to break out against the Nats especially at a slight underdog price.
LEAN: Rockies +100
