The Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals go head-to-head in Game 2 of a four-game weekend series tonight from D.C.

This is the second series between the two with the Rockies taking two of three from Washington earlier in the year. Things went south for the Nats since then and they are becoming a legit contender for the worst team in the league.

Which of these two struggling teams can earn a rare win on Friday night?

Rockies vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick

I was trying to come up with the right term opposite of pitchers' duel to describe this game. But, in a sense, I think the term applies correctly even when talking about two rough starters. These two are still going to be dueling; albeit with a lot more total runs on the board.

Both Austin Gomber and Aaron Sanchez are slumping. Of the two, Gomber is having a slightly better year at 2-4 with a 4.11 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. In fact, I think that if half his games were not at Coors Field, he might have some decent numbers. Decent, unfortunately doesn't always get it done and Gomber is getting beat up on by teams left, right, and center. The Rockies are 3-5 SU in games he starts and I don’t like his chances to turn things around today.

That doesn’t mean that I am siding with the Nationals though. I have a laundry list of reasons to not bet on them with Sanchez ranking pretty high. He has a 7.16 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 27 ⅔ innings of work. On top of that, he already got torched by the Rockies once this year to the tune of seven runs in 4 ⅓ innings.

Basically, I am happy to fade both of these pitchers and grab the over at a reasonable price. While neither is an offensive powerhouse, they both routinely give up a ton of runs to opponents.

Pick: OVER 9 (+100)
