Rockies vs. Phillies Prediction and Odds for Thursday, April 28 (Starters Wheeler & Senzatela are Stuggling)
By Matt De Saro
The Philadelphia Phillies have picked up the pace over the last week and might have turned a corner after starting slow. They have the potential to have one of the best offenses in the league and it is starting to show.
Since their four game series began Monday night vs. the Colorado Rockies, the Phillies have scored 25 runs over their last three games. This is exactly the kind of series they needed to jumpstart their offense.

Rockies vs. Phillies Prediction and Pick
Despite their recent woes, the Rockies have the second-highest batting average in the MLB at .260. They are also scoring at a high clip or 4.47 runs per game. Some of this has to do with playing half their games in the thin air at Coors Field. The big reason that the Rockies have been doing so poorly falls squarely on the pitching staff. The Rockies rank dead last in opponent batting average, opponent hits per game, and opponent at-bats per game. They also ranked 28th in strikeouts, opponent BABIP, and opponent RBIs. Unsurprisingly, the Rockies also have the highest bullpen ERA in the league at 4.61.
So go Phillies right? Well, not so fast. See, Philly is having some pitching issues right now too and Zack Wheeler might be the biggest problem on staff. He is 0-3 with an 8.53 ERA and 1.66 WHIP to start the year. He’s coughed up 15 hits and 11 runs in his last eight innings of work. Wheeler has been an absolute disaster for the Phillies this year after back-to-back seasons with a sub-3.00 ERA. It’s getting to the point where he might need some time away from the rotation to sort his stuff out.
While this game isn’t going down at Coors, I’m expecting a big total from these two teams. Two struggling pitchers against two of the most dangerous offenses in baseball. Seems like a bomb waiting to go off.
Pick: OVER 7.5 (-110)
