After scoring 18 runs in a pair of wins in the first two games of the series, the 8-10 Philadelphia Phillies hope for a third straight victory as they host the 10-7 Colorado Rockies today at 6:45 PM EST.

Philadelphia sends Ranger Suarez to the mound today, who has impressed in his last two starts after a rough first outing. He allowed just one run to the Brewers and two to the Marlins, and now gets a Rockies offense that's generated just five runs in the first two games against the Phillies.

Rookie Ryan Feltner gets his first start of 2022 for Colorado. He was roughed up in a couple of appearances near the end of last season, but has a 3.10 ERA across 20.1 innings in Triple-A so far this year.

Can the hot Phillies' offense get to the rookie early to blow this game open or will the Rockies bounce back with a much-needed win?

Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook as we find some value in this Rockies vs Phillies matchup:

Rockies vs Phillies Odds, Run Line and Total

  • Rockies +1.5 (-110)
  • Phillies -1.5 (-110)

Rockies vs Phillies Prediction and Pick

The Phillies seem to have advantages across the board today. Their offense is rolling and they'll face a rookie pitcher in Feltner that looked completely overmatched in his brief stint in the big leagues last year. He struggled mightily with command and walked five over just 6.1 innings, but Colorado hopes his recent performance in Triple-A is indicative of what he'll be this year.

In his last start in Triple-A, Feltner allowed only two hits and one run over five innings while striking out 10 batters. But this Philadelphia lineup is much, much better than the ones Feltner faced in the minors and they're on fire. They rank seventh in the MLB in OPS this season and while the Rockies actually rank third, Suarez is a much more formidable pitcher than Feltner.

I'm encouraged by Suarez's development so far in his career. After transitioning to a starter near the end of 2021, he grabbed the opportunity by the horns. He compiled a 1.24 ERA over his final eight starts of the year, totaling 51 innings, including a one-run gem against Colorado.

Suarez is in the 91st percentile in average exit velocity so far this year, so he's maintained his ability to prevent hard contact. Philadelphia's bullpen isn't any good, only ahead of the Rockies' in bullpen ERA this season, but Suarez's dominance should render that point moot.

Give me the Phillies to overwhelm Feltner and earn their third straight convincing win.

Pick: Phillies -1.5 (-110)
