The story of this series is the number of Royals that were unable to make the trip up to Toronto due to their vaccination status. 10 members of Kansas City were not allowed into Canada and yet the Royals were able to win Game 1 of this quick two-game series, 3-1.

Today they try to make it a sweep with Zack Greinke on the mound. Toronto counters with their All-Star, Alek Manoah.

Royals vs. Blue Jays Prediction and Pick

The Blue Jays haven’t quite been in free fall, but they have been close. Losers of 10 of their last 13 games and seven of their last 10, Toronto is now 47-43 and only 1.5 games clear of Baltimore for last place in the vaunted AL East.

Alek Manoah has certainly been a bright spot for the disappointing Blue Jays this season, but Toronto has lost his last three starts and his ERA has climbed up to 2.34. Still incredible numbers for the second-year starter, but his FIP is 3.40 and he has given up five home runs in his last four starts. Maybe these are signs of impending regression, but so far he has been a worthy All-Star.

Speaking of worthy, the Royals finally look like a worthy MLB team, winning seven of their last 10 outings and nearly clawing their way out of the basement of the AL Central.

Zack Greinke has had stretches of excellence this year, but he has also had his fair share of struggles. These swings in performance make it hard to predict, when you couple that with a depleted Royals roster, it is even harder to call.

Two solid pitchers on the mound, a royals offense that is not good this year, and a Toronto lineup that has disappointed, means the under is the best bet.

Lean: Under 8.5 (-125)
