Kansas City (20-39) currently sits with the worst record in the MLB as they head out to San Francisco for a rematch of the 2014 World Series.  While the Royals have had to tear it down and rebuild since competing for titles in ‘14 and ‘15, the Giants (33-26) have been able to remain competitive despite roster turnover of their own, and sit in 3rd in the NL West.

The Royals have Brady Singer on the mound and San Francisco counters with Alex Wood.

Royals vs. Giants Prediction and Pick

The Giants just swept the Dodgers, who no longer seem to have a stranglehold on the division and are now 4-2 on their homestand which concludes with this three game set against Kansas City. Alex Wood takes the mound for game one coming off his best start of the season. Wood went seven innings and allowed just one run on five hits, it was his first time pitching into the seventh inning this year. I'm banking on this to be a trend, not a blip.

Brady Singer made three solid starts for KC in May, but June has not been so kind to the 25-year-old. His first start of June, I picked the Royals to upset Houston, and he promptly gave up seven runs in five innings. Then, last time out he allowed three over five and got the win.

Hunter Dozier had four hits in the Royals loss on Sunday, but has an OPS of just .653 against left-handed starting pitchers this season, which is a bad sign for KC against someone like Wood, who is rounding into form.

Pick: Giants -1.5 (+115)
