Royals vs. Mariners Prediction and Odds for Friday, April 22 (KC's Scoring Woes Continue)
By Matt De Saro
The Seattle Mariners are set to host the Kansas City Royals on Friday night to kick off a three-game set between the two. The Mariners have caught fire in the last two weeks and taken series wins over the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers. Seattle now sits at 7-6 and third in the AL West. They are just one game out of first place and could jump the A’s and Angels with a win tonight.
The Royals, meanwhile, are also third in their division. KC did take three of their last four, but overall has looked quite shaky to start the season.
Brad Keller is expected to start for the Royals while the Mariners will turn to Chris Flexon on Friday night.

Royals vs. Mariners Prediction and Pick
One of the major reasons for the Royals' struggles this season has been their lack of scoring offense. The Royals are the second-worst team in terms of runs scored behind the Orioles with just 31. Compare that to the league-leading Guardians and we can see how ugly this offense has been. It’s too bad as the Royals are wasting a great start from Keller in 2022. Keller has gone 13 innings in two starts with a squeaky clean 1.38 ERA and 0.62 WHIP. In his defense, Keller has gotten little to no run support so far this year.
Flexon has not been nearly as sharp, but is also dealing with run support issues. In fact, the Mariners haven’t scored a single run in a game that Flexon has started so far this year. The Mariners have scored almost twice as many runs this year as the Royals and I think that trend continues here.
Pick: Mariners ML (-125)
