Royals vs. Tigers Prediction and Odds for Saturday, July 2 (Singer Gives Royals Edge)
By Joe Summers
The Detroit Tigers host the Kansas City Royals this afternoon at 4:10 PM EST in a battle of two of the most disappointing teams in MLB.
Each squad thought they'd take a step forward in 2022, but both are looking for answers as we approach the trade deadline.
Alex Faedo starts for Detroit in the midst of a slump. He has an 11.35 ERA in his last three starts and has struggled with command.
Kansas City turns to Brady Singer, who had a 5.97 ERA in June but held six of his last eight opponents to three runs or fewer.
Which bad team will be, well, less bad? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help us find the value in this Royals vs Tigers matchup:

- Tigers +1.5 (-180)

Royals vs Tigers Prediction and Pick
I've been impressed with Brady Singer and think he's performed better than his box score statistics suggest. His actual ERA is 4.33, but his 3.84 expected ERA backs up what my eyes are telling me. He's due for positive regression and a matchup with a Tigers lineup that's dead-last in OPS against right-handed pitchers is a great place to start.
Singer went a career-high 8.1 innings in his last start and is showcasing impressive command.
Alex Faedo, on the other hand, has a 5.38 expected ERA and has extremely concerning underlying metrics. He hasn't survived the fifth inning in three straight starts, while his MLB Statcast Pitching Profile shows how much he's struggled:
Kansas City is 5-2 in their last seven on the road while the Tigers have lost six of eight at home, scoring one or fewer runs in five of those matchups. Back the Royals behind a strong performance from Singer.
Pick: Royals ML (+105)
