Run to Bet the Over on DeVante Parker’s Touchdowns Prop for Patriots in 2022
By Peter Dewey
The New England Patriots picked up an important weapon in the 2022 offseason. They traded with the Miami Dolphins for wide receiver DeVante Parker.
Parker, who was a first-round pick back in the 2015 NFL Draft, has only put together one season where he showcased his full potential, and it came in 2019.
That season, Parker played in all 16 games, the only time he’s done that in his career, catching 72 balls for 1,202 yards and nine touchdown grabs. He’s got a chance to repeat that as one of the top weapons in New England, and there may be some value on his season-long touchdown prop.
DraftKings Sportsbook has Parker’s prop for receiving touchdowns at 3.5 (Over -115/Under -115), and there certainly is value in taking the OVER. In his seven NFL seasons, Parker has cleared this just three times. However, he’s gone OVER this number in the 2019 and 2020 seasons when he appeared in 16 and 14 games.
Parker’s biggest issue may be Mac Jones, who threw only 22 touchdowns last season. With Jakobi Meyers, Hunter Henry and Kendrick Bourne competing for scores last season, Parker could immediately become the team’s best red-zone option.
Henry (nine scores), Bourne (five scores) were the only Patriots to clear this number last season, but Parker can be a dominant receiver on the outside with his 6-foot-3 frame. Henry would be my biggest concern with this prop, but the Patriots didn’t trade for Parker not to use him where he thrives the most.
If you’re looking for a value prop, especially since Bill Belichick has praised Jones this offseason, betting on Parker to get back to his 2019 or 2020 form is a solid play this offseason.
