The puck drops for the last time during the regular season tonight at the TD Garden when the Boston Bruins host the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres have long since been eliminated from the playoffs while the Bruins have clinched their spot in the postseason.

Even with just two games left, the Bruins can still climb higher. Boston currently sits in the No. 4 Wild Card spot with 105 points. The Lightning, in third, have 108 points and can be caught under the right circumstances. A win tonight is necessary for the Bruins to keep this dream alive.

Here are the odds for tonight’s matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Sabres vs. Bruins Prediction and Pick

The Bruins are heavy favorites in this game for good reason. Not only do the Bruins actually have something to play for, their recent record shows that they are gunning for the No. 3 spot with a 5-1 record in their last six games. Buffalo is also on a 3-0 ATS win streak with big wins over the Rangers, Canadians, and Panthers. Oddly, the Sabres are also 5-1 in their last six games despite playing for pride.

While they are having a strong finish to a disappointing year, the Sabres are not nearly as good of a team on paper. Despite a recent surge, I don’t see the Sabres hanging tough in this game. They rank 25th in goals allowed per game and 24th in shots allowed on defense. Buffalo also has one of the worst save percentages in the NHL at .900 as a team. This is made worse by the fact that starting goalie, Craig Anderson, might not suit up tonight with an injury. The Sabres’ offense is equally as poor with a goal per game average of 2.83. The Bruins, for comparison, averaged over three goals per game this year.

The Sabres are weak on both offense and defense, have nothing to play for, and could be without their starting goalie.

Pick: Bruins -1.5 (-120)
