Saint Louis vs. Boise State Prediction and Odds: Billikens Present Live Underdog

Saint Louis heads out west to face Boise State on Tuesday night in a battle of mid-major opponents.

The Billikens are off to a 6-1 start with their only loss being to Memphis on the road, but will face their next toughest challenge to date on Tuesday night in Boise State.

The Broncos are 3-3 on the year with a pair of losses to quality opponents in UC-Irvine and St. Bonaventure, but are coming off arguably the worst loss in program history over the weekend to Cal State Bakersfield 46-39. Head coach Leon Rice said it was a "pathetic" performance.

"In my 12 years, that was the worst offensive display I’ve seen," Rice said.

I was able to grab this number at Saint Louis +4.5 in a game I project them as favorites (you can find my plays in real time here), so I still like them at over a basket.

While Saint Louis has been great at getting to the line and generating second chance opportunities, the real edge for them in this one comes on the defensive end, where they can overwhelm a struggling Boise offense.

For starters, the Bilks are top 20 in opponent turnover rate and Boise is already having trouble putting the ball in the hoop, now they face a relentless pressure defense. BSU is outside the top 300 nationally in three-point percentage and shooting below 60% from the charity stripe.

This may be a long season for Rice's club on offense, who is struggling to get over 60 points regularly. Ultimately, Saturday's sub-40 outing against Cal State Bakersfield may just be another concerning sign in a season full of them. I'm backing Saint Louis' physical offense and pesky defense to cause more trouble and to cover the spread.
