The Atlanta Falcons' playoff hopes were officially ended last week when they lost a 29-15 decision to the Buffalo Bills which caused their record to fall to 7-9.

The New Orleans Saints, meanwhile, are coming off an 18-10 divisional win over the Carolina Panthers, but the game was an ugly one. A win is a win, and the Saints remain in the hunt for the last remaining spot in the NFC playoff race. If they beat the Falcons, and the 49ers lose to the Rams, New Orleans will grab the final spot in the postseason.

While the Saints' destiny is tied to the 49ers, the fact remains that they need to win this game in order to have a shot at the playoffs. So, the Falcons have a chance to play spoiler here. And, despite their win last week, the Saints are vulnerable to such a performance. 

New Orleans’ win over the Panthers was very sloppy and the Saints won due in large part to their defense holding tight. They needed four field goals to barely beat a banged-up Panthers squad. However, their defensive-first strategy has been working. The Saints have allowed just 39 total points in their last four games combined. This will serve them well against a Falcons offense that is struggling to score points in a consistent manner. Despite three turnovers, the Falcons were unable to score more than 15 points last week against Buffalo. It was their sixth time that they have failed to score 20 points in their last eight games. 

The total for this game is currently sitting at 40 and I say scoop that up while you can. The Falcons offense is a trash heap and the Saints are prone to making a ton of mistakes. The UNDER has hit in the Saints’ last six games while the Falcons have gone UNDER in seven of their last eight. While this game itself might be worth missing, don’t sleep on the betting value here.
